Some of the animals in the myths and folktales that we will be discussing are tricksters: the Serpent tricks Eve; Fox tricks Goat; Anansi (Spider) tricks Turtle–and then Turtle tricks him back–and Coyote tries to trick all the other animals but, sadly, he fails. How do you feel about these animal tricksters? Do you admire them or condemn them–or both? Do they deserve reward or punishment for their deceits and unwillingness to play by the rules? In your answer, talk about as many examples as you like, but be sure to be detailed and thoughtful; include at least one quotation.
