In thinking about our reading about developmental stagesplease reflect upon previous popular culture (e.g., movies like Bye Bye Birdie,Rebel without a Cause, The Blackboard Jungle, Dragstrip Girl, Grease, SixteenCandles, etc.), TV series (e.g., Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, WhatsHappening, Gidget, Hannah Montana, and The Donna Reed Show), scholarly studies,or even feel free to conduct your own interviews with an elderly person to helpgather more information. One hundred years ago, adolescence was not thought ofas a specific stage; people went from being children to being young adults. Howhas the nature of adolescence changed over the past 100 years? How has thischange in thinking impacted adolescents as well as society overall? How havethe theories we are studying reflected this change? Please be sure to useexamples to support your ideas.
