Part 1.

Pick a movie or TV series that you have seen and explain how the plot follows the structure of Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey.  In your analysis,  make sure to include the six stages from The Hero’s Journey. Remember that your fellow students might not have seen the same movie or series, so be clear about which elements follow the stages in The Hero’s Journey, for example, ‘In The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen volunteers as a tribute. This corresponds to the ‘Call to Action’ stage of The Hero’s Journey.

Be careful: there is a lot of material on the internet about movies and The Hero’s Journey. You may use this as inspiration, but do not be tempted to plagiarize your response!

Part 2.

Last week you read, The Los Angeles Review of Books Article, The Man Behind the Myth: Should We Question the Hero’s Journey. This article criticizes The Hero’s Journey.  Select one criticism of the Hero’s Journey and provide an explanation about whether or not you agree with the criticism.  The response to part to should be between 150 and 300 words.
