Reflection

Your reflection should have substantive knowledge representation and critical thoughts around the materials presented in the course. Each reflection response should be written in your own words and be around 200 words in length. You are more than welcome to use other formats (e.g. audio or video record yourself reflecting on the questions) to submit your reflection. You may do so by upload your recordings directly into the response box.

1. Earlier in the module, you were asked to complete the M-CHAT-R (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised). After doing so, please write your reflections on the following questions: What is the intent of the M-CHAT-R? Who should complete this? What was your experience with completing it? What did you notice about the screening questions?

2. What did you learn about the race and ethnicity disparities in the ASD diagnostic process? What was your reaction to these data? Was it surprising to you? Why/why not?

3. Write a reflection on the “Welcome to Holland” and the “Welcome to Schmolland” essays. What reactions did you have reading the two perspectives? How might these perspectives help you think about working or interacting with families as you continue to learn about ASD?
