Choose a topic related to health that has meaning to your personal health, interests, and well-being. This may be a disease, such as Diabetes, or healthy fitness activity.
A topic that relates to health that has meaning to my health, interests, and well-being is Diabetes (type 2); I chose those topics because my dad was a diabetic person from a young age, and I like to discover more about this chronic condition, and I try to be healthy so that I don’t fall into this category to the maximum.
Conduct a database search comparing one of the following database directories with Google Scholar.
I will choose database search PubMed and Google Scholar.
Explain how you could narrow down the number of articles hits you had initially and present within your post a summary of the credible article you chose as your resource.
I have used as a sample test; a query physical fitness reduces Diabetes in Pubmed. The search engine has had relevant hits with journals dealing with physical activity reducing the risk of diabetes and physical inactivity as one of the causes of mortality in men with type 2 diabetes. Google scholar can search for peer-reviewed papers, books, thesis, articles, and abstracts. It also collects information on conference proceedings, institutional repositories, academic libraries, and pre-print archives.
The credibility of the search is determined by getting the hit that describes the query you have given. Suppose the reason for your search is appropriately mentioned in the question. In that case, the exact or closely related hits will tell you whether the information you need is available in the article or not. In this respect, Google Scholar is a handy search engine that retrieves journals that exactly match or moderately match the query. It is comparatively difficult to get the relevant hits in PubMed unless the question you give is accurate or almost accurate.
How will using a database search facilitate your:
Evidence-based practice is now widely recognized as the key to improving health quality and patient outcomes. The goals of nursing research (studies that generate new knowledge) and evidence-based nursing practice (using the best evidence to guide nursing practice) appear to be quite different but to practice the evidence effectively. More and more research is being done. Research evidence (practical innovation) must be accompanied by effective implementation and context to produce significant results. (Pickler R.H,2018)
Database research promotes my personal development by teaching me how to use technical resources to find evidence.
Database search facilitates my scientific research through the available filter searches. The database can access credible, evidence-based research that I could imagine in my future academic research.
