Sutton Hoo

The cemetery of Sutton Hoo in Britain is one of the most important archeological sites in Britain. The notion of a ship as a vehicle for transporting royal dead to the great beyond is one of the oldest themes in Scandinavian lore.

What “art” was found there, and, how can a site rich with this functional art teach us about this rich civilization?
Be specific in citing the artifacts found here.

What influences added to their art and how did these Scandinavians affect the art of the British Isles?
