The American Revolution in Retrospect

As we wrap up our studies of the American Revolution examine this unique historical perspective: Why might some British historians view the American Revolution as actually the second English Civil War? Examine how the war was viewed from the British angle as oppossed to the American and why American historians contest aspects of this perspective, viewing the war as a unique struggle for the birth of American democracy.

Construct your response using your unit readings of the textbook and the primary documents on the topic of the American Revolution. Responses need to be three full paragraphs in length at a minimum. Equally compare these perspectives in your response.

2) Why did John Adams and other founding fathers oppose an alliance with France? What was the risk to this alliance?
